When you learned about Darwin's “survival of the fittest” theory back in your school days, you may have heard things like the weaker in the species will die off quickly. The stronger, more intelligent and more skilled will survive. These surviving members of the species will procreate, and over time, the species will be stronger and more able to survive against predators. However, apparently Darwin's theory either doesn't apply to human beings or humans haven't been in existence long enough for the stronger, more intelligent to win out.
You may think that in today's day and age, things like people dying in a motorcycle accident while protesting a helmet law or people dying while trying to swap seats while driving down the road in a convertible just wouldn't happen. Don't we all know what the result of such situations will be? These are unfortunately just a few of the many examples of Darwin awards that prove that we as a species still have a long way to go.
