Ricin toxin man arrested

In february authorities found Ricin toxin in a Las Vegas hotel.
Ricin toxin is a protein toxin extracted from castor beans.
It was used in the 1978 assassination of Georgi Markov.



Roger Von Bergendorff, 57, was hospitalized in February complaining of breathing difficulties. His cousin found the ricin toxin in his hotel room while recovering his belongings.
Bergendorff is charged with possession of a biological toxin and other charges for possession of firearms. If convicted on all he would face a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison, and a fine of $750,000.
