Video Creators Seeking Alternatives to YouTube
YouTubers relying on advertiser revenue can easily find their videos 'demonetized', which means they're unable to serve advertisement. In 2012 YouTube rolled out an algorithm that checks every new video and determines if it is advertiser friendly. A video can also be demonetized weeks or years after upload. Favoritism & Controversy?
Is it all just algorithms? The community has long suspected that there is favoritism going on, where average content creators find their videos demonetized more often.
"There are different rules based on your company size." - Philip DeFrancoHe was talking about the different treatment Late Night shows get on YouTube. DeFranco also makes a point about the Trending Page, which seems to be manually organized by YouTube to favor celebrities and television stars.
"YouTube doesn't do enough to support its community." -Casey NeistatRight leaning political content creators and politicians claim they're not only being demonetized more often, but also de-platformed and censored:

What's the alternative?
While there is no shortage of options for video hosting, YouTube still has a huge fraction of the market.

Some recent platforms have been popping up as people seek alternatives to not only video hosting, but also revenue and advertisement:
